The Therapeutic Journey


I will meet with you for an initial consultation to assess what you are finding challenging, and to think together about your goals for therapy. Initial consultations are also for you to see if you notice a therapeutic connection with me.

If what I offer is suitable for you, we will  contract a number of sessions with clear therapeutic goals and actions. often 4 sessions and a review is a good starting point.

Everyone is individual so I don't give a prescriptive number of sessions for specific difficulties. There are no limits to the number of sessions you can book.

Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or ad hoc.   

If you are coming to see me it is important to understand that the therapeutic process can make emotional difficulties worse in the short term. Whilst this is an indication that therapy is working for you, it can be difficult to experience and manage. These feelings are part of the process and signal that you are getting in touch with the deeper more painful emotions. We will work together to give you internal resources to cope with these changes. It is important that you can be honest with me about what you are feeling, and that you find support from others between sessions if you need it.
